Hi all. I've got a weird problem here and I hope someone will have some
ideas that I haven't already tried. I'm running ks4.02 which I just
installed a couple of weeks ago. This morning I wanted to transfer a Grade 1
French braille document to my PC. As usual I went into file manager and
export, filled in all the fields asking to export to an rtf document. The BN
said it was exporting and started to beep... and continued to beep. This is
an extremely short file; about 3 braille pages, so after a couple of minutes
of beeping I tried to exit because I new something wasn't right. The BN had
frozen so I had to reset. I thought maybe this was a fluke so I tried
exporting several more times, and even tried exporting to a txt file in case
rtf was somehow the problem, but that didn't work either. So I decided I'd
try translating the file instead of exporting it. Unfortunately, the same
thing happened. So then I tried just going into the file and saving it with
space with S and selecting rtf with backspace X. Again, I got the
interminable beeping and the file never saved. In desperation I put the
entire contents of the file in a block, copied it to clipboard, and created
an rtf file. However, when I went in and tried to paste the file it again
beeped endlessly and did nothing. What's the deal? Fortunately my French
professor was understanding, but if I have to hand copy this file with my PC
I'm not going to be a happy camper. Can anyone think of any parameters that
either the new file or the original file need to have to make this work? I
need to get it in a format readable by my PC so I can run the grammar
checker on it and then e-mail it to my prof.
Thanks,
Kellie
