Karen, the person who produced the documents has "smart quotes" turned
on in Word or WordPerfect or whatever. In Word this is all under
"Autoformat" and you should uncheck just about all those options. If
whoever produced the document is somebody over whom you have power
(grin) suggest they do likewise.

Subject: [Braillenote] TRANSLATION QUESTION

Hi, everyone,

I know that my subject is vague but I honestly don't know quite how to
describe this problem. I have several ASCII files and I know that my
problem has to do with Duxbury. Every time I come to a word that ends
with the apostrophe s, I get stars . When I press the cursor routing
button related to the particular character, I hear things like "open
quotation mark" or even something like "vulgar fraction." I kid you
not, that's what I read! How can I translate these documents so that
when I see a word and know that there is an apostrophe in it, I'll
actually see the apostrophe. I'm getting to the point that I'm pretty
disappointed in the Duxbury translator. I even tried to translate the
documents in to braille, but that didn't help. Hope you all can
understand this. any responses would be welcome.

Karen
