Hi Adrienne,

In addition to Maria's instructions--to enter the Font Menu with CONTROL
with t or ENTER with f, then press i to select Italics, and press n to turn it
on or f to turn it off--you can also use the dots 46 or double dots 46 in
Braille documents. This is something you can do starting with version 5.0
where we have the Duxbury Braille Translator.
If you want the next word to be italicized, put dots 46 before it, which is
the italics indicator for single words in Braille. If you want a group of
words to be italicized, put two cells of dots 46 before the first word in the
group, which is the beginning italics indicator for a group of words in
Braille, and then put a single cell of dots 46 before the last word in the
group, which is the ending italics indicator in Braille.
If you translate the Braille document to text and have the setting in the
Back Translations option to convert Braille italics to italics font, then you
can check if the word or group of words has been italicized by positioning your
cursor on the first letter of the word or first word in italics, then press
LEFT ARROW or BACKSPACE with dot 3. This should place the cursor on the
italics font indicator that is not automatically shown by the display. The
starting italics indicator will be displayed as dots 1246, f s i with dots 78
in each cell to indicate that your cursor is on the indicator. Then move to
the last letter of the word or last word in italics and press RIGHT ARROW or
SPACE with dot 6 to position the cursor on the ending italics indicator. You
will then see it shown on the display as dots 1246, f e i.

I hope this helps,
Kirstyn
