Put the cursor at the beginning of where you want the italics. Do ENTER with F (CTRL with T), and when prompted for a font, hit I for Italics. Then, put the cursor at the end of the text you want italicized, and repeat this process. If you're typing along when you want to italicize, repeat the process above, type in your text, then repeat it again. The Italics indicators will not appear in Automatic Mode (the default Braille Display Mode used when documents are opened) unless you have the cursor over them, but even if they aren't there, your italics will still come up. If you want to check that they're there, press SPACE with F (READ with F) to find. To search for italics, after hitting B for Back or F for Forward at the "Search Forward or Back?" prompt, and at the "Find?" prompt, hit ENTER with F (CTRL with T) for Font, then I for Italics, then N for On or F for Off. The Italics On indicator is the Computer Braille dollar sign, dots 1-2-4-6 f s i. The Italics Off indicator is the Computer Braille dollar sign f e i. If you use these fonts, they should translate into the text version of your document. HTH.
