No, actually, it doesn't, Jennifer because when you are in the BN and
you go into directory mode, you use the forward slash to type in a
path for opening a file, e.g. If that is the case, then when one
wants to view a local web page, the command for writing its path
should be the same as the path used to open the file. Changing the
slashes is unnecessary and confusing to users. It is, moreover
exactly the opposite from the normal state of affairs when writing
paths and filenames in Windows, the preferred OS of ninety-five
percent of BN users. When typing a path in Windows, one uses the
backslash, e.g. c:\office\myletter.doc

When one uses the web, one usually types in an address like so:

http://home.eznet.net/~akp

Notice the forward slashes. If accessing local files via keyweb
requires the backslash, that is contradicting the usual way to write a
path in the BN, and it is also confusing to users of Windows because
it is exactly opposite to the way they normally think of the
difference between paths in Windows and paths on the web.

Now, I'm going to make an effort to remember this, but it am totally
confusing to many!

Ann P.
