Susie, You asked if there's a setting that will let your e-mails and web pages appear in contracted Braille. Yes there is a setting, actually two settings, that you should check. In the Braille Display options, make sure that the setting called Preferred Reading Grade is set to grade 2 and the setting called Text Document Reading Grade is set to Preferred Reading Grade. However, you said that not all e-mails and web pages display in computer Braille. Then this may be the bug that others have reported which some said could be remedied by pressing the PREVIOUS and NEXT thumb keys together four times, to cycle through the display modes, until you return to the one you're using, say Automatic. Others say that pressing SPACE with dot 4 and then Space with dot 1 to return to the top of the message or page fixes this, too. See which one works for you.
As for your second question, again that's an affirmative. The BN will not download duplicate messages, meaning, if you received a post from the BN list for example, that has both your personal e-mail address and the BrailleNote list address in the To, Cc or BCC field, the BN will keep only one copy and skip the duplicate.
