Thanks Doug, that's great.  Thanks also to Chris Westbrook and others for
your suggestions and to Dean Jackson for being so helpful off list.  I've
decided that a router is the way to go.  I phoned a shop near me here in
Brussels and they have them for around 40 to 70 euros.  Apparently you can
clone the computer's MAC address.  My ISP kindly offered me an upgrade to a
more expensive package - very thoughtful, but no thanks!  I did manage to
connect to the Intranet at work today, so at least there's nothing wrong
with my ethernet card.  It was good to have my first glimpse of Keyweb.

I'll let you know how I get on,
