You need to tell me more about how the BrailleNote and computer are
connected to the network. Are the BrailleNote and PC connected in
different sockets or on two different cables to outlets? Alternatively,
did you wire the PC directly to the BrailleNote to achieve
synchronisation, with the intention of either swapping PC for BrailleNote
at time of need for use in a single socket, or else get the BrailleNote to
use the PC to get access to the internet? Please describe your network
topology, and I may give you explicit instructions.

However, in the event the following is useful, I present it now, on the
assumption that the first case is true - that PC and BrailleNote have
individual sockets:

Set the default gateway. You use bnipconfig.exe on the pC to do this. If
DHCP is available, then this should be obtained automatically during the
configuration step as described in the BrailleNote manual. If you can
synchronise with the PC using ethernet already, then one of two conditions
arose:

1. DHCP was not available and you are using rogue IP addresses for PC and
BrailleNote on the same netmask which allow synchronisation, but - being
without a gateway - you cannot browse the web.

2. You did not program your BrailleNote prior to starting, and your
university network - as is the case for most corporate or educational
institutions - has a WINS service.

As I say, I really need particulars. Your network administrator, of
course, would be nice to have around. If you can get your administrator
to tell you the following, I can guide you through a complete setup:

Does your network have DHCP?
Does your network have WINS?
If no DHCP, then we need: your IP address for both PC and BrailleNote,
network mask, default gateway, name servers (primary and maybe secondary).

Cheers,
Sabahattin
