Jonathan,

With all due respect, I never debate the facts, I only prove them. You have
done that very well for me with your reply. But let's deal with a couple of
facts that you left out.

First of all, the four hundred plus subscribers to this list have dumped at
least two million dollars into PDIs coffers, which does not take into account
those buyers not on the list. That earns them the right to say something to
other Braillenote buyers, even if every word is not totally related to the
Braillenote. Your product depends on word of mouth references within a highly
limited market. Perhaps you should spend less time trying to limit what people
say and more time solving the problems that people bring up. Don't address
them, solve them. Addressing is for envelopes, solving is for problems.

Secondly, you don't have a big enough customer base to have chaos on the list
for questions like the one that sparked this witty reparte. Most of us know
what we are talking about and how to say it without PDI holding our hand. Does
PDI need to be reminded that we are your CUSTOMERS, that this list (and your
job) is there because we decided to buy your product? Stop and think about that
for a moment.

Thirdly, those who sell a product should be hesitant to discipline those who
buy their product. They should not be as quick as you were to remind us of our
implied obligations stated in the "Welcome" letter. Would you want us to be
quicker or as legalistic as you in seeking a remedy to the Braillenote problems
we have?

Finally, there are enough people out there who tell the blind to be quiet, who
say that the things we need to do our jobs well are causing financial chaos.
Don't be so quick to practice what they preach. The list chaos you fear is
simply not real or possible. One of the biggest problems we have to deal with
is being hidden by people who don't want to deal with us OR what we have to
say. The problem is, PDI has to deal with both.

By the way, I still think the Braillenote is the best PDA out there. As an
independent consultant for a VR agency, I arranged for the purchase of at least
four BN32s and a Voicenote. I was concerned about my customer's needs. Perhaps
you may want to consider that before you blow off a passing question. PDI or
any blind person can't afford to be that selfish.

Earnestly contending,

Gary Drennan

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the
spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the
full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and
having done everything, to stand firm. (Ephesians 6:12-13 NAS95)

Gary with all due respect, we have well over 400 people on this list. If
everyone asked a question to which they wanted a private reply and which
was not related to the subject of the list, then we would have chaos. This
was made clear when you joined the list and I trust you read the welcome
message. I don't intend to debate this further and suggest people contact
me privately if they have any issues or questions.
