Dear Listers,
There is never a dumb question about computers, BrailleNote included. In my
job as a programmer, I occasionally instruct users in the use of software
and hardware. When I entertain even the dumbest questions from a user, that
user then understands. That user then goes on to successfully use the
software and hardware, and, to ask more advanced questions. I truly
appreciate that most of my fellow listers handle questions this way.

Sincerely,
Jerry Weinger

Ann, Months ago I had you make fun of me from asking a question. Now you
call me elementary. I ask the list manager to shut this person up, control
the list, or kick her off. The last time she opened her mouth, she sent me a
private email saying a made a spelling mistake and made fun of me ten
different ways. Handle this please.

Good morning, Daniel,

Daniel> Please answer below questions. No one has acknowledged me
Daniel> at all. I like the list very much and hope all like me
    Daniel> too.

We like you Daniel, but your questions are so elementary, that perhaps
we are wondering if you really mean to ask the questions, or if you
are just trolling to see who will respond to you.

Daniel> Hi list, I just received the GPS and have a few questions
Daniel> below I would like explained if at all possible. 1. The
Daniel> manul keeps referring to a documents folder with a getting
Daniel> started folder. I do not have that folder at all.

Where did you look for the folder? Did you look on the flashcard?
This is different from the flashdisk. (BTW, PDI, this may be confusing
to some folks.)

Daniel> 2. I have only the 256 mg compact flash card. What is the web
Daniel> site for me to get a card big enough to hold more than one
    Daniel> map at a time?

<sigh> The single map is on the flahsdisk, not the flashcard,
Daniel. Yes, this confused me for a while too, but if you look on
your flashcard, you will find that there is some room. As far as
getting larger storage, look at your local computer store or computer
show. You need to buy the cards that are accepted by the BN, this
info is in the manual for the BN.

Daniel> 3. Confused on vertual mode explained
Daniel> below. a. If I want to explore a city point of interest
Daniel> in another state, can I only do this by using the
Daniel> lattitude and longitude points? Can I look the city up
Daniel> another way without the maps loaded for that state?

<sigh> This is what we mean by trolling, Daniel. How do you expect
to get the info if you don't have the map for that area loaded? You
can't get it out of thin air! There are no dumb questions, but this
one is a puzzler.

    Daniel> b. If
Daniel> we are driving into another state, and I do not have maps
Daniel> loaded for that particular state, will the commands works
Daniel> for altitude, speed, city/state/zip, but not the x command
Daniel> for next intersection? Is that correct?

No, that is not correct. You will get altitude, latitude and
longitude and speed, but you will not get anything related to map
data!

    Daniel> 3. Summary: I
Daniel> really want all the ways I can explore another state or
Daniel> city points of interest other than by latt/long. If not
Daniel> possible, that is okay also.

If the map for that state, ***all five maps for that state*** then you
can explore by city and street.

You might ask your counselor or your O & M instructor to explain more
about this. equipment.
