Hello Richard: My Voice Note QT also says 99 after unplugging so I think this is normal.

I think the answer is that it really doesn't matter, but if you have the bn on, the charge will be slower. > Also, it depends on what you are doing as to how fast the bn will reach 100 percent. > My unit only says 100 percent while plugged in. As soon as I take the plug out and check the level, I get 99 percent. I don't know if this is the way it should be or if it's something in my unit or the battery. > If you are using a modem, the battery will drain faster. > Keeping a pcmia card or a compacked flash card in the unit will also drain the battery a little faster, but not much; for me it's quite acceptable. > I would recommend that if you have nothing on the bn, you should plug it in and if you're going to use it for something light, like reading a book, you can just turn it on and start, although the recharging will be a little slower. > The bn has an automatic fast charging mode that really takes care of things even when your bn is turned on. > However, if you are going online or getting a lot of email, I would wait just a little if your bn didn't do anything when you turned it on. > Check it occasionally to see what the charge is by hitting space with o if you have a bt and I don't know the command for a qt. > then hit p and you will hear the power level. > If you want to check the accuracy of the gauge, do the space with o and then hit space with i. > You will then be in the support information mode. > If you type a you will hear if the gauge is accurate or not. If you type i you will hear the capacity inaccurate count, which will give you the percentage of accuracy with I guess 1 being the most accurate and, at least in mine, about 64 being the start of inaccuracy. > At that number, when you push a the bn says "Gauge is inaccurate." > hth > > Richard > > > ----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Powers, Terry (NIH/NCI)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >To: 'Braillenote List' <[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Date: Mon, 8 Dec 2003 15:11:26 -0500 > >Subject: RE: [Braillenote] new unit > > >Hi Don and others > > >Should the unit be on or off while charging.
