Oops, Laura, you missed about two or three steps for saving .htm messages in
Keyword. For thoroughness, let's go through all the steps again, marking the
ones missing from your post:

1) While within the HTML message, press SPACE with S (CTRL with S) to save.
You will be informed that the file has not been modified, but just ignore that.

[missing step] 2) Hit BACKSPACE twice to get to the drive prompt. By default,
if the e-mail was opened in Keymail, the destination drive and folder will be
the root directory of the Keysoft Systems Disk, since the file opened is WP
Temp.txt. If the e-mail was transferred from PC to the BN, saved in the Flash
Disk, and opened in Keyword, then it's all right to save the .htm file in the
same folder (although I save it in the cf card instead, and perhaps that's what
Jim would like to do).

[missing step] 3) Press BACKSPACE with X (CTRL with X) until you hear the
prompt "Create a text document, Keyword type" or "Create an ASCII text file".
This is especially necessary for BT users because by default, the file will be
saved as a Keyword Braille document and that will result in a .kwb file with
.htm in its file name. Selecting a text file format (be it .kwb, .txt, .rtf or
.doc), and typing in a .htm extension will save a real HTML file.

[not really missing, but incomplete, step] 4) Type in the file name with the
.htm extension. If you selected to create a Keyword type text document, the
Braille grade entry is grade 2 and so the period before the three-letter
extension is typed as dot 4, dots 4-6. If this is confusing, then press
BACKSPACE with J first (FUNCTION with O, then G, C) to switch to computer
Braille, and then type the file name in computer Braille (period is just dots
4-6).
If you selected to create an ASCII text file or any non-Keyword type text
document, then by default, the Braille grade entry is computer Braille. I
think it's important to point this out because some people use just the
display, with the prompt about computer Braille being required turned off.

5) Exit the e-mail or file with HTML codes and Press ENTER with BACKSPACE with
I (FUNCTION with 0) to enter Keyweb. Press SPACE once, then BACKSPACE once (to
change the folder only) or twice (to change the drive) and select the drive or
folder accordingly.

6) At the prompt "List of Favorites in blah-blah folder", press SPACE with X
(READ with X) so that Braille, text and HTML files can be viewed. Space
through the list and hit ENTER on the .htm file.

7) You can save this as a .txt file so that you can read it using Keyword or
Keybook. When Keyweb displays the HTML file, press SPACE with S (CTRL with S),
select the destination drive and folder, and give the file a name with a .txt
extension (note that it's no longer necessary to press BACKSPACE or CTRL with
X).

However, Jim, if the problem you have with the so-called gibberish parts of the
message are =20 and – the instructions Laura and I gave will not remove
those, and you have to edit them out manually. Also, if the e-mails you're
reading on the BN are .eml files from Outlook or OE, then there will be extra
lines about MIME format, content transfer encoding, so on and so forth right
above the message which you must delete manually as well, before saving as a
different file type.

Laura's instructions on changing the e-mail address appearing in the From
headers is correct. There's absolutely no need to delete the Address List
definition file for this, Jim. And even if you do, that doesn't clear out
previously entered information in the Address List option under Keymail Setup.
Only a deletion of the Keysoft.ksd file can do that, which I do not recommend
that you or anyone tries, except when it's very necessary, which it isn't in
this case.

HTH,
Roselle

>1. Reading html files.
