Diane,

If you just want to get an initial feel for the language before you start
your classes seriously, why not try:

(1) www.bbcnews.com

(2) www.worldnews.com

(3) onlinenewspapers.com

By looking at several news headlines in Spanish, it is possible to deduce
the meanings of Latin-derived words whose English equivalents sound similar.

If you wish for further help, please e-mail me off list.

Warm regards,

Jim Taylor.
