Spam blockers are very primative programs. They try to look for certain
character strings that are often present in spam messages. However they are
woefully flawed, and can often let spam through while capturing legitimate
messages. It is always necessary to check your spam or junk mailbox from
time to time to see if there are any legitimate messages there. For
example, if you purchase something on line, or even join a list, anything
where a confirmation message is generated, and you don't receive that
message, check your junk or spam mailbox, and you'll probably find it there.
I have even had cases where personal messages that I received in my inbox
for years were all of a sudden flagged as spam, and began showing up in my
junk mailbox. This situation can be partially remedied because spam or
junkmail filters usually have something called a "Safe" list, or "White"
list, in which you can enter the Email addresses of the senders of
legitimate messages that end up being flagged as spam.
