Hi Anita and List: First of all, Anita, do you have your BrailleNote now? Do 
you have dial up or dsl? This is information we'd need.  Basically, as Laura 
said, go into the setup options.  You would go into the add a service, and fill 
in your information.  Follow the prompts, such as what your service provider 
is, what your email address is, and what your password is.  You also need to 
add what the pop and smtp servers are.  This information needs to be entered 
into the BrailleNote, because it needs to recognize it as well as the pc.
Yes, you can run off the router if you have dsl.  The only time you would use 
the phone jack slot in the back is for a dial up connection.
