Lisa,
For me it is not a problem with the volume, it is a clarity issue. I have a high frequencey hearing loss, so I loose many of the sounds that give words their clarity. With a high frequency loss like mine, it is not adequate to amplify every thing, just the high frequency sounds that I can't hear. I use a unique kind of hearing aid to provide thisss specific type of amplification. My hearing loss is also only in the right ear, so this changes things as well. As you can see, the braille display is almost essential for me.
Thanks,
Keisha and Winston

Keisha,

I don't know how much hearing loss you have, but have you ever thought about
plugging in a neckloop or FM system into your VN to help amplify the sound?
I know a few hard of hearing VN users who have done this and it works pretty
well for them. Just a thought to consider until you can get a BrailleNote.

In regards to your question about other funding sources, perhaps you might
try the Lion's Club.
