Hi Evelyn: With regard to your second problem, I believe your issue is that you are not routing your cursor to the current cell before exiting the file. If you read with only the thumb keys and braille display, the cursor will not move with you. This was a feature of my BLT and it took me a few weeks to finally start doing it without having to think about it.
