By default, if you're in a Braille document, when you route your cursor to a
letter, you will see dots 7 and 8 below it. For example, for the letter t,
which is dots 2-3-4-5, you would see dots 2-3-4-5-7-8, so you would know the
cursor is there. As you write on the unit, you can see this cursor pattern of
dots 7-8 positioned after the last letter you typed. In text documents, the
default cursor pattern is dot 8 only, so, for example, with the letter t, you
would see dots 2-3-4-5-8 when you routed your cursor to that letter. You can
change the cursor shape for both standard Braille (Grades I/II) and Computer
Braille (they are two separate settings but in the same list) if you wish in
the Options Menu>Braille Display Options (press [SPACE with O], [FUNCTION with
O], then B, then scroll, and the help system will provide you with your
options).

The only reason I would think that using a touch cursor button would not result
in the appearance of the cursor would be if you were in Reading Mode. However,
a document should always open by default in Automatic Mode, which is what
you'll find convenient in most situations. Read all subtopics of "Braille
Display Modes Topics" in the index of the manual for info about the various
modes. Anyway, if you happen to be in Reading Mode, where the cursor would not
show even if you routed it, pressing the combination of the PREVIOUS with NEXT
thumb keys toggles the four available modes--Automatic, Editing, Layout, and
Reading--modes, with the first press displaying the current mode (meaning only
the second press changes you to the next mode). If you somehow ended up
getting into Reading mode, put yourself into, for instance, Automatic mode, and
it should work then.

Maria
