Ben: As a general rule, I charge the BN every night when I go to bed. As you say, you can charge at any time you like, with no effect to battery degradation. At 10% you should start getting a Battery Is Low Warning, after that Battery Is Critical.
To recalibrate, charge the battery completely, then drain it completely, & recharge. When draining, it is good that the BN doesn't go to sleep, so you should either let it keep talking, or exercise the display, to let it run all the way down. This can take a while, so, don't be afraid to use it while draining it. I know this may seem like a drawn out process, sorry about that.
