Hi Paul,

You should not have problems formatting your cards with FAT32. I don't
believe the cluster errors were actually due to the format. Reformat the
cards with a PC and ensure to use Windows safe hardware removal procedure
for USB flash readers, as what you may be experiencing is in fact that the
write cache hadn't fully been written to the solidstate media yet before
you ejected it. Use the system tray icon that shows up when you insert
media in your reader. Double-left click, make sure the device tree or
name is selected, and press stop, waiting for Windows to confirm device
removal before ejecting the card. Alternatively, set system properties on
the device in System Manager to "Optimise for safe removal" as opposed to
"Optimise for performance", which will disable the write cache altogether
and make it safe to remove the media as soon as the write operation you
requested (i.e. copy, format) is completed. The latter option works by
simply using idle time to write to media when it will least bother you,
storing cached data in memory until that time because it is faster, but it
obviously means you have an opportunity to screw up your filesystems on
removable media without realising it.

Cheers,
Sabahattin
