Hi Terry, On 4 Jan 2005 at 9:56, Powers, Terry (NIH/NCI) <[email protected]> spoke, thus:
> How do you get to the archives and about how far back do they got? The > more the merrier. You can get them from the URL in the list signature. You can either read HTMLised posts using Pipermail/Mailman-Edition, or else you can download monthly archives in gzipped mbox format (indexed to the nearest archive rebuild, as are the HTML pages) or else you can download the whole darn mbox, right up-to-the-minute, bleeding-edge, latest-and-gratest posts as a single file. This latter is used by myself. The mbox format is a simple format for UNIX Mailboxes that all *real* email clients (no, Microshaft Lookout and compatibles is not among them, and nor is KeyMail) will be able to import and treat as a regular folder which can then be treated as such, indexed, sorted, searched, and what have you. As for the period of their content, it goes back to the very beginning creation of the list on the Mailman service on PulseData's hosting company. I have seen messages over a year old, though I'm sure it extends further, I have simply not yet date-sorted them yet as it is rather expensive on my CPU (it is over 40 megabytes of traffic).
