I had the same problem to connect via the infrared port, but apparently the bn/vn should be set to hays compatible on infrared and not only on infrared, while the phone must be set to connect via a modem. I have also found that it sometimes says "no carrier," and sometimes connects, without me having changed any settings on either the vn or phone. However, I now get to log on, then log on successfully, but then the vn disconnects. Hth Riana
