Hi. When I tried typing in family into the domain name, the bn didn't like that. What I eventually did was to type in Paul into the server name. That is my computer's name. However, I think that family remained in the domain name. I never could get it to stay deleted. I did finally get things working and even opened a word document, spellchecked it a saved it back to my D drive. Pretty neat.

The terminology Microsoft uses is regretably confusing. No doubt they
intended their protocols to span the entire Internet, and thought it best
to adopt terms people already knew from the ARPANet days. :-)

In your case, the "Domain" is simply equivalent to the "Workgroup", which
is "Family". The computer name is the "Server" name - this is the name
resolved by NetBIOS Name, WINS, or (in the least likely case) DNS. You
can find your computer name by looking at System Properties (found in
Control Panel), Computer Name tab.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
