Hello. I've had this happen before also. What it is with this?
I think we do need a way of recovering files if we mistakenly erase them or
lose them.

Subject: [Braillenote] the number 623 for file size

> Hi Listers,
> Okay I find the number 623 very deceiving when I see a file that has no
information in it listed with this number. I see this number when I ask of
the file information in a file that has no characters in it. This seems
weird to me. Why would the BN say 623 if there are clearly no characters in
a file? I'm talking about files that are essetially empty when you go into
the file manager mening and ask for information about these files. It just
seems wrong. It should say 0 at this time if there are clearly no
characters in the file. I find it deceiving because when you are looking
for a file and you know it was supposed to have information in it and you
get this number 623 you think oh the file does have something in it? I find
this to be a cruel trick. The rson is since I have lost this file and I
created the new one with the old file name I went to the file mager mening
with some hope of finding the file. When I saw that number 623 with the
information of the file not !
> I thought good there must be some information in here. Of course when I
return to Key^. and find the file is empty because I have not rewritten my
documentation I feel like I have been deceived. Like I thought I had found
my missing file because to me the number 623 signals that there are 623
characters in a file when in reality it means 0. There's a difference of
623 between 0 characters and 623 characters. Why does this exist? Maybe I'm
the only person bothered by this number. I would think others would have
experienced my confusion.
> Thank you for your time and your help.
> Maybe the number 623 is there for a valid reason. If so I'd like to know
that reason.
