Hello Ben:
There are conflicting viewpoints as to whether or not it is bad practice to
LEAVE the compact flash card in the BrailleNote. As for me, it is in there
permanently and I have NOT HAD ANY SIGNIFICANT issues.
Occasionally, the Keysoft 5.1 build 22 software tells me that my
CompactFlash is poorly formatted and if I want to format it; I simply PULL
OUT MY CARD at that point, wait a few moments and reinsert it and all is
well. This DOES NOT HAPPEN OFTEN, and, in fact, has not happened in the
last 4-5 months.
I have heard that LEAVING the CompactFlash Card in the BrailleNote is a
considerable drain on the battery; well, I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED this--so I
am not sure where the chips do actually fall on that score.
I use the Simpletech CompactFlash which, based on my understanding, draws
less power.
Since installing Keysoft 5.1 Build 22 though, whenever I insert my
CompactFlash Card after ADDING MORE DOCUMENTS using my computer, it NO
LONGER DISPLAYS the "CARD INSERTED" message. But, when I REMOVE the
CompactFlash Card, I still get the message "CARD REMOVED". I can LEAVE
WITHOUT THE DISPLAY of either message, but I just wonder why the former is
NO LONGER BEING DISPLAYED as was the case with Keysoft 5.1 Build 19??
With respect to the REVIEW OPTIONS, I DO NOT mind getting that option the
first time I open a document I want to read. However, having gotten my
Options set in stone, I hate it when, upon opening the same document, I get
this: REVIEW PREVIOUS OPTIONS?? I think that having to press <enter> twice
to BYPASS THIS is a real waste of time.
In an old message on the subject, Jonathan Mosen, if memory serves, opined
that efforts will be made to visit the issue with future updates of the
Keysoft software.
Now, I'll turn it over to the gurus, <smile>!!
Sincerely,
Olusegun
