Get into a keyword document.

Type space with o.
type b.
scroll down to show new lines in reading mode as
then type a for indent as one cell, b for indent as 2 cell, l for linear
reading mode.  You want a or b

Then press space with e.

hit a cursor routing key in the document and the formatting symbols will be
gone.
