I hope you are correct, but mergers generally force product lines to
contract.
Perhaps in this case it won't, I suppose the important thing here is
that Braillenote GPS customers don't lose any functionality.

I don't understand wherein would lie the problem. PDI has always
supported variety and choice for it's customers, I don't see a good
reason why there couldn't be two GPS packages that would work with the
BN family. None of us have all the details, it just seems to me that
this particular merger has more to do with expansion than contraction of
product lines.

This is the full text of a message posted earlier to the Trekker list by
one of the folks from Visuaide. Of particular note is the last sentence,
where he talks about plans to port Trekker to the BN. I find it
difficult to believe
that PDI would support two separate gps products for the BN.

The merger has no impact on the development plan and schedule for the
next
versions of Trekker. To do a small recap, we are working on version 2.6
of
Trekker presently where the main improvements will be with the maps
(larger
maps and ability to load many of them at once). We will also introduce
a
new Bluetooth GPS receiver in the spring or early summer. We have also
started our planning for the version 3.0 that will introduce many
exciting
improvements to Trekker.

As a bonus, the merger shall accelerate our plans to port the Trekker to
the
BrailleNotes line of Notetakers.
