Hi Frank, On 7 Feb 2005 at 17:13, Frank M. Hernandez spoke, thus:
> Can the BN set up an e-mail account with google? If you mean Google's Gmail, then it is trivial to set up after following your invitation link. I'm fairly certain even the BrailleNote can do this. It only requires some very simple javascript code and a cookie or two to run. Actually *using* the service is a whole different issue. That, as Jonathan says, is utterly nontrivial, even with state-of-the-art hacks we call screen readers. > Is google a pop3? It is indeed. It's also a forwarder (i.e. you can specify a mailbox and Gmail will graciously forward it on to that mailbox). Of course, Gmail will offer to collect mail from your ISP as a superior alternative so that you may be tempted to search all your mail from their wizzbang interface, and of course if you should still choose to forward you will have the option of keeping a copy with Gmail. In any case, all the details are specific to your account and you must be logged in to find them. As I cannot do that at the moment thanks to Google's gord-awful image verification schemes and so on, and what with their staff being wholy unhelpful by my reckonning, I can't really help you any further. > Have anyone of you set up a google account? Yes. > Ones upon a time I heard that blind people had to call a tech support > number to set up a google account because of some kind of graphic > interface? Does anyone know if this is true? There is certainly no indication at Google itself. You will, despite providing a secret question and answer, also be required to use this graphic to recover a lost password. You are not, ironically, to set up an account with an invite link. Cheers, Sabahattin -- If an email tells you to forward it to all your friends, please temporarily forget that I am your friend.
