Hi All,

I got my PK yesterday. Here are some initial comments based on my experience so far. I should probably mention that I also have a 32 cell BT and have been using it for the last four years.

1. When the PK arrived, I was a bit nervous as the box wasn't in great shape. This turned out not to be a problem as the unit comes double boxed. The inner box is very well padded and all was just fine. The packaging is very nicely done.

2. I had never seen the PK and was a bit concerned about how I would like the keyboard. I actually find the keyboard to be surprisingly comfortable and quickly got accustomed to it. The braille display is excellent with extremely crisp dots. The speaker is quite large and full sounding for such a small unit. The PK sounds great with earphones. The system is very quiet.

3. I am familiar with BrailleNotes so getting started was easy. I have been reading the User Guide and have listened to Jonathan's excellent tutorial which comes on a cd. There is a two sided braille instruction sheet telling you how to power on the unit. You get the necessary USB and serial cables as well.

4. I think PDI has really done their homework when it comes to wireless networking. Within an hour, I was browsing the web over my wireless home network. I was very pleased at how smoothly the setup process went. I found that web pages loaded extremely fast. I did not experience any problems using the web.

5. Having only had the PK for a day, I have a lot to learn and can't speak to what problems there might be if any given that this is a new product. I have not run in to any problems so far.

6. I had about 35 percent battery charge when I powered up the unit for the first time. This hasn't changed much after three or four hours of use. I did notice that the battery dropped quite a bit while connected to the wireless network but came back up to around 35 percent without charging. The charger is flat with BrailleNote Pk on it in braille. It is a little larger than I would like.

7. All in all, I am delighted with the PK. It is a very small unit with tons of features. The carrying case is quite nice as well.
