Hi, I'm using an Index Everest-D embosser. Here are the steps for changing the braille code:
1. Press the button labeled "su." You'll hear, "Changing setup A. Group braille code" 2. Press the button labeled "it." You will hear, "item language." 3. Press the button labeled va. The first language option should appear. Mine happens to be set to "North American computer 2." If you are in Britain, keep pressing the value button (that's the va button), until you hear the appropriate language. I don't know which one would be best for British braille. Mine has the following choices: English computer 1, English literary 1, IBM EuroBraille IBM 437 computer 1, Eurobarille IBM 850 computer 1. There are other languages, too, but I won't list them. 4. To save your changes, press the su button. Your embosser might be laid out differently from mine, which has the labels on a flat panel in front. But I think the abbreviations should be the same. If you need any more help, please let me know. If you're in the U.S., you could call Sighted Electronics for technical support. If you are in the UK, you could call TechnoVision LTD. I think they sell the Index embossers and could answer tech support questions. I hope this helps. Terri Pannett, Amateur Radio call sign KF6CA.
