Hi,

Not necessarily although you can.

When I got my card I just plugged it in, got it recognized, turned it on,
scanned for networks and it found mine.

It connected when I pressed enter and the bn took all the default settings from
the router. I did not have wep turned on at the time.

Later, I edited the configuration which the bn and router initially set up for
themselves and turned wep on and entered the key which I also entered into the
router.

I was amazed at how easy it really was.

That's why I suggest that people turn off security on the router until that
first connection is established and then turn it back on in the router as well
as
setting it on the bn as well.

Just a lot less settings you have to enter manually.

This is a home network. Don't I have to enter my info to set it up?

Hi Sarai,

If you have your wireless network already set up, I would do the following:

go into options, connectivity, wireless and hit y to turn on the wireless
card. If you get that far you at least know the card is working. Obviously
you've
already inserted the wireless card at this point <smile>.

Next, I'd go into the wireless menu and hit enter on scan for networks and
see what you get. You should be able to find your own network if it is not
set up
as hidden on the pc.

You then should be able to connect to it unless you have some sort of
wireless security turned on in the router or whatever. If there is no
security such as
wep active, you should be able to connect to the network as there is a
default configuration you can use for getting started.

I'm assuming that the network you want to connect to is in your home. If
it's a school or something like that, try what I just described and if you
can't
connect, you may need to contact whomever is in charge of network
administration to see what special settings you may need.

Since different network setups can have different options, it's hard to give
an answer which will work for all situations, but hope this at least gets
you going
in the right direction.

Hey
My wireless card came in today. What do I do, take it out of the package,
put it in the BN, and go to options, connectivity?
