Jane, Do you remove all flash cards etc., from the bn when you turn it off? Also, what happens if you just leave it on? The reason I ask this latter is that the machine will go into sleep mode after a few minutes of inactivity, so there won't be much if any drain on the battery until you're ready to use it again.
This won't solve your problem, but might help you to be able to use the bn until you can send it in which it sounds like is really what's needed. You mentioned doing resets, are you doing the reset with 1 2 3 and/or the reset with 4 5 6? Do either of these give you better results at bringing the flash disk back than the plain reset? Ultimately though, it really sounds like the unit will have to go back as soon as you're able to arrange that. I know about delays in being able to send it off too, and they're really frustrating especially as they're usually beyond your control. My flash disk has been acting flaky for a month or so now ... but usually I am able to fix it with several (ten maybe) resets. Today though, I can't bring it back! I had pulled up my address list around 9:00, or started to, and the whole thing just locked up totally. Nothing would work. So I had to do a reset. And another ... and another ... and another ...I have lost count of all the resets I have had to do! Is there no way that I can wipe the disk and just start over somehow, even if I do lose data on it? All my really important stuff is on my flash cards anyhow. I have to wait about a month until I can ship this equipment in ... can *anything* be done? As it is, I am somehow running the machine from keysoft system disk. still able to use my flash cards, still able to do my math and look at other important stuff. Can even check the time--but I can't access my address list or planner. I have the feeling that running this from the keysoft system disk isn't good, either But I don't know what else to do! I know when this is sent in I'm going to tell them to replace or repair the disk in addition to cleaning my Braille display, giving me another battery ... sheesh! Will this ever work properly so I don't have to send it in twice a year!? That's how it appears to me. OK maybe I haven't had to send it in that often but it sure feels like it. Does anyone anywhere have any ideas on what to do about my flash disk? How do I get it back How do I wipe it and start over? Do I do anything at all? Do I keep doing this ad-hoc thing of running it from the keysoft system disk and hope to pull through until I can send it in? Even if I manage to get the flash disk back by some miracle, how do I keep it from happening again?? Jane PS it's now 10:54 according to my laptop's clock. Now, of course that I've written this email, I did a reset on a whim and it fixed it. I think. tempporarily anyhow. It's back to keysoft version 5.1 build 22. But my above questions still stand. Any ideas, anyone? ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
