Hello folks,

given the number of complaints I have received regarding a certain list
member's conduct with regular snide remarks being posted to the list being
the main point of these complaints, it has been decided that this list
member's posts will be moderated for a period of two weeks after which time,
the moderation flag will be removed in order that free posting to the list
might continue once again. During that time, her messages will personally
have to be approved by Pulse Data staff pending there release to the list as
a whole.

The grounds for moderating this individual's posts can be found by looking
at the following sentences in the message that every list subscriber
accepted upon joining the list:

With hundreds of blindness lists to choose from, we require that messages be
kept strictly on topic, that is to say that all messages pertain to the
Pulse
Data PDA family of products. We insist on this simply because each message
you send to the list address will go to hundreds of people, all of whom are
here for one purpose, to talk about Pulse Data's PDA family.

In rare cases where contributors persistently stay off the topic of this
list, Pulse Data reserves the right to screen a person's posts for
relevance.

Before posting a message, please consider the number of people who will see
it, and whether it will add value to the list. For example, posting a reply
simply stating "I agree" adds no value to the list.

Please check that the subject of the message is still relevant when you are
replying. It's inevitable that conversations evolve over time, and what
started
as a thread on the word processor could easily evolve into a thread about
the web browser. If you notice that the subject of the message now has
little
relevance to its content, please feel free to take the initiative and change
the subject. This is also good because someone who doesn't feel too
confident
about helping a user with word processor issues might skip the message after
reading its subject, even though they are an expert on the web browser. So
a message with a descriptive subject line is more likely to get you useful
help.

Having said this and quoted the sentences from the welcome message above
folks, please remember the next paragraph in the same message:

Finally, if you have any concerns about the conduct of another list
participant, the list policies or the way they are administered, do not post
them to
the list as a whole, since this tends to generate considerable off-topic
traffic. Instead, please write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and we'll be more
than
willing to take suggestions or clarify any issues with you.

Also remember folks that Pulse Data staff have to read this list and we
don't want to be reading unnecessary traffic. It's important that we have
as much time to keep developing the BrailleNote as is possible in order that
we might stay ahead of our competitors and keep providing you with a high
quality, stable, reliable note taker. Hindrances won't be tolerated and nor
will insults to others be tolerated. I've heard lots of good comments about
this list when comparisons with other email lists have been made and Pulse
Data, as am I personally, is keen to keep it that way.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Regards,
Dean Jackson
