Hi Dean!
A question about this email log thing.
If I sent you the log, do you think it would help you find out exactly what is
happening when I free database space without resetting on this loner I have?
I still have the problem that when I do this, the bn very rapidly says freeing
database space twice, tells me to wait and a few seconds later, I get the error
tone followed by either one of two statements and returned to the setup menu.
The statements are either, "The file exists., or "Cannot create a file when
that file already exists.
No matter what I do, this annoying situation keeps coming back.
The only way I seem to be able to stop it is, after I get done deleting all my
emails and emptying the trash etc, going back to the main menu and resetting,
then going back into email and doing the free database thing.
Thanks for your help.

Richard

>Subject: [Braillenote] email usage on the BrailleNote BT/QT and the PK

>Hello all,

>Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your feedback on KeySoft 6.1,
>both positive and otherwise.

>As most of you will be aware, there have been a number of recent emails to
>the list, concerning the use of email on both the original BrailleNote
>product family members and the BrailleNote PK, (KeySoft 6.1 and 6.0
>respectively) Customers have reported KeySoft freezing either randomly
>while downloading email or consistently at a given point. There have also
>been reports of problems sending certain messages and in some cases on the
>PK only, folks have not been able to send messages at all when previously,
>sending messages was not a problem.

>Though I have mentioned a few email issues here, I can only make one
>recommendation at this time, which may or may not, help to reduce the
>severity of or eliminate, any email issues being experienced. The
>recommendation would be to delete the email folders.cdb file in the KeyList
>folder on the flash disk. This file contains your email database, meaning
>that you would lose all email data. Therefore, I would like to make clear
>that in no way do we believe that this is the ideal solution but it is the
>solution that is the most technically viable and likely to end in an
>improvement in performance.

>There are a couple of things that you are able to do as a BrailleNote user
>to assist the Humanware Development team in solving these problems:

>1. Send us your email log:

>When the email log is on, there will be a file in the none folder or /
>directory on the KeySoft system disk, depending on whether you're in folder
>or directory mode. It is called poplog.txt. If any problems are
>encountered receiving email, please send this to us so we can try and find
>out why the freezing is occurring. If you are experiencing any email issues
>therefore, you would regularly need to turn the log feature on before
>checking your email.

>To turn the log on:

>>From the KeyMail setup menu, press l and "log on" will be spoken. It will
>remain in this state till you next enter the main menu.

>2. Send an email to me with detailed reports, i.e exactly what steps you
>took to produce the error, along with any given error numbers or exact
>wording and if it's not of a confidential nature, any relevant content
>and/or attachments if you are having trouble sending messages.

>If you have any queries pertaining to this message, please don't hesitate to
>contact me.
