That is a very devastating thing to go through.  I can absolutely relate to you 
saying you felt like you had been in a fire.  When it happened to me I felt 
like I had been robbed!
There are still things I will never get back from the black hole where lost 
BrailleNote data goes.

I have never lost the contents of my flash disk.
That would bother me a lot, too, because I have a huge address book and a
plannerr that has quite a few appointments in it.  My catastrophe wouldn't
have been so bad if I'd just been given a warning but it happened in what
seemed like a second without my choice and I was stunned.  I kept looking
for my files, and they just kept on not being there, but miracles do happen,
I guess, and I thought it just might be my turn but it wasn't.  It took me a
solid week and many hours just to get what I could remember back from the
web but I had stuff that I'll never retrieve.
