Hello Maria:

Just one comment on your below message regarding the incorrect manual. A
friend of mine last Fall switched from a VN BT to a VN QT and when she when
from version 4.02 to 5.0 having the 5.0 build she experienced the incorrect
manual. In a nut shell, PDI never switched her in the data base from BT to
QT but once this change took affect, the version of the manual was correct.

I should re-state, she did have 5.0 burned in to rom and this took place
when she installed 5.1.

So making a long story out of nothing, it was the serial number in PDI that
wasn't changed.

If you understand what I just wrote, I'm impressed. smile

Subject: [Braillenote] incorrect manual version on a BrailleNote QT

> Hi All,
>
> Sorry, I can't remember who posted a message about having the incorrect
version of the KeySoft 5.1 manual on their BNQT. I've been meaning to
answer it, and I haven't seen any responses, so here goes.
>
> There are three things you can do. The first is to re-install KeySoft
5.1. Then, press READ with HELP or FUNCTION with U to access the User
Guide, I to access the index, and V. See if it says "Version 5.1 D1.0
BrailleNote QT" (without the quotes). If not, then:

There is no need to go from Folder List to Directory Tree view because you
only need to go the one layer (the Manual folder has no sub-folders anyway),
and the Folder List View is used for this purpose. Because you are in
Folder List View, you also DO NOT need to enter a slash [/] before the word
"manual". Press ENTER to select the folder once you've typed it in.
>
> 5) You'll be told "List of all files in 'manual' folder." Press READ with
X to display the view of "List of all, including hidden, files in 'manual'
folder." Now, SPACE through the list. The only file you should have in this
folder is 'bnq.exe' (without the apostrophes, of course). If you have any
other files, press CONTROL with I when you are on that file; when asked to
confirm deletion, press Y for "Yes".
>
> 6) When the only file remaining is the one above (bnq.exe), return to the
Main Menu with the MENU KEY, and perform a standard Reset by hitting the
Reset switch with no keys held down.
>
> 7) When you're up and running again, check your User Guide version as
stated above, and it should be 5.1.
>
> If this still doesn't work, or you only had the 'bnq.exe' file when
reviewing your Manual folder in step 5:
>
> 1) From the Main Menu, press U for the Utilities Menu.
>
> 2) Press A for Application Program.
>
> 3) At the "Run program from which drive?" prompt, press F to select the
Flash Disk.
>
> 4) At the "Directory Name?" prompt, type /manual (with the slash before
the word "manual", since you are in Directory Tree View). Press ENTER to
select the directory.
>
> 5) At the "Program Name?" prompt, press SPACE until you reach 'bnq.exe'.
Press ENTER to select it.
>
> 6) Follow the prompts. Leave the "Command Line" prompt blank.
>
> 7) After you are restarted, check the version of the manual, and it should
be 5.1.
>
> If this still doesn't work, and if you've never had the correct version
since installing 5.1, it could mean that your installation package has the
wrong 'bnq.exe' file, and you'll have to contact Pulse Data with your Serial
Number and machine type to get the correct file. If, however, this just
happened recenqy, one of these methods should work. HTH.
