Hello, Sarai,
Tell Grampa to make sure he empties his trash folder. Whenever you delete
an E-mail, it does not go directly off your computer as you might imagine.
In some systems, it goes to the Trash bin, but just hides there until you
actually empty the Trash bin. All the stuff in your Trash bin counts in the
number of messages in your in-box.

I hate Earth Link, when we tried it, we couldn't get it to work. Now my
grandfather has it and his inbox always bounces messages cause it says the
inbox is full, but there is nothing in it. GRR

I still use
mail.earthlink.net
for both POP and SMTP, but this is when I use dialup for my cell phone.
This is only regarding my Earthlink connection on my BrailleNote. I haven't
been required to enable authentication on my BrailleNote, so I haven't done
it. I don't know if any of this will help, since I don't have Earthlink
DSL, but i hope it does.

Don't forget that smtp is for sending, but pop is for receiving. so if
receiving is slow, you might need to change that as well. Sarah, you might
post what the pop address is for earthlink that you have as well.
