Hi Peggy, First of all, you now have the connectivity menu inside of the options menu. Your dialup configuration should be defined there with the access number and all that info.
In keymail, now you have directory of email accounts rather than directory of services. So, when you connect to the net for email, you have to tell it which dialing or connection configuration you want to use, and then you need to tell it which account you want to access. So first of all, check out the dialup setup under the connectivity option of the options menu. You probably want to check in the entry called review an existing connection configuration. You can look up your dialup configuration there just as you would in the old directory of services, and see the options. Actually, since you apparently were able to connect, this is probably really okay and you may not need to change a thing. As for the directory of email accounts, you go to keymail, setup and then into directory of email accounts and choose lookup. Each account you have defined should have a user name, password, and email address as well as a field for your real name. It will also contain entries for the smtp and pop server. If your username and email address are the same, you would put it in twice. Don't forget that each one requires the entire address such as [EMAIL PROTECTED] assuming that's your user name and also your email address. So, in summary, you pick the connection configuration you want to use when asked for it, in this case it would be the one for a dialup. Next you will be asked for the account you want to use, so choose the one for the email account you want to access. If your dialup works okay but you get pop server errors, you might just try creating a new entry in the directory of email accounts incase there was some problem in converting things from the old to new format. I hope this helps. If not, don't hesitate to ask and we'll work something out by Sunday. I've used the network connectivity, but in all honesty I haven't tried dialup, but will first thing in the morning. Don On Fri, 18 Feb 2005 23:07:07 -0800, Peggy Kern wrote: Hi, all. I got my 6.1 upgrade yesterday and installed it, and everything seems to be working okay, except for connecting to the net, either to get email or browse the web. All my connections seem to be the same as what they were before the upgrade, so I can't figure out what I'm missing. I have an Earthlink account, with several email addresses. I thought I'd test the BrailleNote with one of the email addresses, so I went to Keymail, then to connect to send and receive email. It asked "connect to which configuration?" The nickname for the email address in question is Peggy, so I hit that. Then it says "use which email account?". That's kind of confusing to me, as I don't know whether to hit Peggy again, or Earthlink, or whether I should have chosen Earthlink for the configuration and Peggy for the email account or what. I've tried switching them around, using both Earthlink, using both Peggy, and I get the same result. It says "your name?" and I have my name in there, so I hit enter. It asks for my email address, so I leave it the default [EMAIL PROTECTED] Then I hit enter. It goes on its merry way dialing, and connects and everything, then I get error connecting to pop server: 10022. I've reviewed the settings in the directory of services, and everything looks right. I decided to try to connect to the web with just my regular Earthlink account. It connected alright, then I got weird errors and it said page not found. I tried a couple different pages. I wouldn't be so worried, except I'm leaving for vacation on Sunday, and my BrailleNote is the only way I have to connect to the net. Can someone with 6.1 experience tell me how to fix this, or what I'm doing wrong?
