Sorry I can't help more, as I am in the United States. But, hopefully, someone else will be able to. Oh, I'm guessing you are using whatever your cell phone provider assigns as a GPRS number to dial, such as *99#? Also, although maybe not in every case, the cell provider may require a specific username and password as well. I know that Cingular here in the United States seems to do so. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Emma Bennison" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Braillenote List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 02, 2005 9:58 AM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Using my Cell Phone as a modem for the BN
Hi Vicky Great suggestion which I just tried and it didn't work. The phone says it's connecting but the BN says "no carrier". I'm wondering whether I might be doing things in the wrong sequence. Thanks for all your suggestions. So, if memory serves, and someone can sure correct me here, doesn't one tell the BN to use the modem Hayes compatible on infrared, or something like that? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vicky Collins" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 02, 2005 9:27 AM Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Using my Cell Phone as a modem for the BN Which carrier are you using, Cingular or AT&T or what? Actually, now that I look at your e-mail address, guess I should ask where are you located? And, do you have a data cable for your phone, or are you using the infrared port, assuming the 3650 has one? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Emma Bennison" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'Braillenote List'" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 02, 2005 9:20 AM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Using my Cell Phone as a modem for the BN Thanks, Vicky. I'm using a 3650. I have a GPRS connection. That's about all the information I can give you. Although, from reading this list, I know folks are connecting with their BN and cell phones. So, maybe if you tell us which cell phone and which cell phone carrier and how you are trying to connect, then maybe we can try and help. Although, at least in the few cases that I know about with this particular combination, using the Cingular GPRS service and the infrared port can be a bit challenging to set up. ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
