Richie, I didn't install using ActiveSync, and I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but it comes from the KeySoft 5.1 Release Notes available from the SDW Site. They were originally for Build 19, but I edited that below, so it reads 22. Also, (nnnnn) are the first five digits of your BrailleNote's Serial Number that you used to log on to the SDW site (because each Serial Number has a unique software package associated with it). The direct link to the page which contains the link to download the ActiveSync Installer file is www.pulsedata.com/Products/Notetakers/braillenote_downloads.asp The link you want to click says "ActiveSync Installer for KeySoft 4.0x" (without the quotes). Even though it's version 5.1, this file should still work.
3.7. Installing from ActiveSync. 3.7.1. Copy the file "KeySoft 5.1 Build 19 (nnnnnggddexe", and "ActiveSync Installsionewddexe" to a common folder on your PC. 3.7.2. Turn Speech on then Reset with dots 1-2-3 (f-d-so). 3.7.3. Establish an ActiveSync connection between your BrailleNote and your PC. 3.7.4. Using Windows Explorer, open the Folder on your PC into which you copied the 2 files. Select the file "ActiveSync Installsionewddexe", and press Enter on your PC keyboard. 3.7.5. You should immediately get the "PDI KeySoft ActiveSync Installer" dialog box appearing on your PC. Press the Down Arrow key on your PC to select "KeySoft 5.1 Build 22 (nnnnn)". Press Enter to start the installation. 3.7.6. The install program will establish a connection to the BrailleNote and transfer the Installation program to the BrailleNote. 3.7.7. Depending on your screen reader you may get progress messages during this transfer. The transfer should take about 3 minutes and when complete the BrailleNote will announce "Welcome to KeySoft 5.1 Build 22 (nnnnn) installation, to start the installation press Enter, to cancel press Space with E". 3.7.8. Press the Enter key on the BrailleNote to start the installation. 3.7.9. The BrailleNote will beep for about 15 to 20 seconds while the upgrade is being installed. At the completion the BrailleNote will announce: "KeySoft 5.1 Build 22 installation complete, the ActiveSync installation program will give the next instruction. To continue press Enter". 3.7.10. Press Enter on the BrailleNote. A dialog box on the PC should then advise that the installation is complete, and that, the BrailleNote should be restarted by pressing Reset. Press Enter on the PC to acknowledge this dialog box and close the ActiveSync install program. 3.7.11. Press Reset on the BrailleNote and KeySoft will restart, and you should hear that it is running KeySoft CE Version 5.1 build 22. The exact sequence that follows will depend on the ROM image in your machine, and if you already have a KeySoft upgrade installed on the Flash Disk. Don't be perturbed if the sequence or timing doesn't follow exactly that outlined below. It is important that you take note of the installation prompts and act on them accordingly. 3.7.12. If you receive the message; "System files need updating. Press Reset with dots 4-5-6", perform the reset as instructed. For computer style keyboards, hold down the j-k-l keys. 3.7.13. Press Reset again prior to answering any prompts as regards braille language etc. 3.7.14. Set the Time and Date. 3.7.15. Listen carefully for other Reset requests, and follow the instructions given. 3.7.15. KeySoft 5.1 build 22 should now be installed and running. 3.7.16. Import any required "old" Planner files into the new Planner system. HTH.
