It won't work in this case. My serial cable isn't long enough. Unfortunately. sigh. And I can't move the CPU any closer because of everything else on my computer table! I'm surrounded by electronics. Yikes. LOL.

I know this might not work for some people, but it's what I find most comfortable, and it avoids all those contortions.--Grin! I'm ready to go from there. But because of where my PC is and where the BN will have to be to be connected to it with the serial cable, I won't really be in a good position to read the manual, exit out of it and go back to the PC, or perform functions on the BN. I thought if someone could email me some directions to do this, I could just work the PC as usual, with occasional contortions to perform the necessary commands on the BN. I don't have a lot of room, where my computer stuff is hooked up now, so the BN will be in a very awkward location for me to have to do a lot of reading on it, during this process. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of B. Alan Mattison Sent: Tuesday, October 19, 2004 9:29 AM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] PC sync As usual, the manual has all this info, but having actually used it, maybe experience counts for something. First, you need to make activesync work, which means connecting the BN to your PC either by the serial cord, the infrared port, or by network. Once you can read the names of your BN's files on the PC in Explorer, then it's time to go to the next step. Before you can use the sync command on the BN, you have to have Microsoft's .NET Framework on the PC, which is supposedly on the download site at Pulsedata.com, but I've never seen it there. You may have to use the PC's Update facility to install .NET. After that is done, install the keysync program on the PC. It will ask you if you want it running all the time, to which I answered "no", but this means that before you can sync your contacts that you have to run keysync on the PC. If you have plenty of memory on the PC and don't have many other things running in the systray of the PC, you can answer "yes" to this question and you won't have to run keysync before you sync your contacts. OK, finally, now you're ready to sync your contacts and planner between the BN and your PC. I know this is quite a bit to accomplish beforehand, but it's probably worth it. HTH.
