Hi Peggy,

I struggled with many of the same things you are struggling with at this time.
My struggle seemed to go on forever. My network card didn't work properly till
I upgraded to 6.11 but then, who really is to say I could really verify that.
My computer tech suggested I delete all configurations pertaining to the
wireless network and start again. This is what I did and bingo! It worked
best.

Make certain your network card is on. Go to options menu, connectivity menu
and wireless menu. You can get there quickly from the main menu by typing o,
c, and w. Be sure all configurations you typed in are erased! Go through
wireless network till you find the option scan for new wireless network and
press enter. Listen to what your BN says! Your unit will find and connect to
your network! A configuration will automatically be created! It may read
preferred networks but don't look now, look later. Once connected, check your
active connection details. The most important number is the Ip address. This
has to be right! If it isn't, you won't go anywhere with your wireless
connection. You needn't worry about that at this time. Just make certain you
can see the IP address. My tech didn't worry about the DNS address. If you
see the IP address, try connecting to your favorite web site. If you get on
your favorite web site, everything is working. If you don't, connect to you
r network with the PC so that you have both your BN and PC connected to your
network. Compare IP addresses. If the BN is radically different, you will
need to check other settings. You did say you didn't think you needed a WEP
code. If you discover you do, write all letters in caps, a through f, and
write that code exactly as it was set up. If wep is on and the code isn't
correct, you won't connect. To recap, erase existing configurations. Go to
options, connectivity and wireless menus. Select scan for new networks or
whatever it says. Press enter on that option. Your BN will connect to your
network and create a network configuration. Go to active connection details.
Make certain the IP address is showing! The other configuration options you
outlined are correct. Try connecting to your favorite web site. Should this
happen, you are good to go.

You may need to reenter the information for your EMAIL account. Erase that too
but make certain you understand what needs to go into your new EMAIL account.
Erase anything in your unit which discusses directory of services since all of
that is out of date. Enter your new EMAIL account information in the Keymail
setup menu under Directory of EMAIL accounts. Enter the information that is
asked for. Once done, try receiveing your EMAIL. If that happens, you are
good to go.

At this point, you will need to do some house cleaning and put in some details
once everything is working. Go into the connectivity menu and find review
existing configurations. Select the one you find pertaining to your present
wireless connection. Press backspace with dots 1, 4 to edit this new wireless
configuration. You are asked for a name. I named mine the same as the name of
my network. I then double checked all other options then I saved the
configuration. Go through the connection process to make certain everything
still works. When you create a new EMAIL account, you will probably have
everything checked and double checked. Go into your account and edit if your
EMAIL account isn't correct.

I believe someone on this list from PDI said one might have better luck simply
scanning for new networks and allowing the configuration to be created
automatically. I have found this to be the case. I set up Dar's unit exactly
the way I told you only providing her EMAIL information and it took off right
away and is still working today. I went to a downtown restaurant and scanned
for their network and was able to download my EMAIL and get on web sites from
that restaurant. The key is this: if you have existing configurations from
other upgrades or from your experimenting, get rid of them and scan for the
network. I have found this works best.
