This recipe sounds great! I love honey, and I love oatmeal, so what a great
combination!
I purchased graham wheat flour. Has anyone used this in bread, and what
are your opinion(s) of it?
Many thanks! :)

I have both, but only found the oatmeal recipe. I will continue to look for
the other one, it's around here somewhere, but for now I'll post the oatmeal
recipe. I hope it's the same as you had. There are many variations. My
family hails from Menonite roots, so I know it's an authentic recipe.
Oatmeal Honey Bread
1 cup oatmeal (regular rolled oats, not quick cook)
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp salt
2 cups boiling water
1 pkg (1 Tbsp.) yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/3 cup honey (my sister uses molasses, is good, not as sweet to me)
5-6 cups flour
(I use unbleached and whole wheat with good results, but original recipe was
white flour)
In large bowl, place oatmeal, butter and salt. Cover with boiling
water and let sit for 15 minutes.
Proof yeast in warm water.
Add to oatmeal mixture along with honey, stir to combine.
Add 3 cups of flour and stir to combine. Add enough additional
flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto floured counter and knead,
adding enough additional flour to keep dough from sticking and knead
until dough is smooth and elastic.
Wash bowl, grease, and place dough in bowl, turning to coat dough
and cover. Grease two standard size loaf pans. (I have also made this recipe
in 4 small loaf pans with good results. You just have to watch them closer
and maybe adjust the oven temp down a bit at first or they'll brown and look
done when they really need to bake a little more.)
Let dough rise in a warm place for at least one hour or until
doubled in size. Punch dough down and turn onto lightly floured
counter and divide into two equal pieces. Knead each piece
untilsmooth and elastic again, form into a loaf and place in loaf
pan. Let rise for 45 minutes and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
(I sometimes add a little bit more of the rolled oats to the top just for
looks)
Bake loaves for 45 minutes or until golden brown and loaves sound
hollow when thumped.
I hope this is what you are searching for! If not it's still a really good
loaf of bread. We use it frequently. Kids like sammiches on it. :-)

I visited a Mennonite/Amish outdoor market last week and picked up 2
loaves of bread. One was cinnamon swirl and the other was honey
oatmeal. Both were wonderful. Does anyone have a good recipe for
either?
Thanks in advance,
Virginia
