My name is Gordon. I have been baking breads now for many years. My
first loaf was when I was about 12 years old.
I now make the bread for home. I usually alternate between Jewish
Deli Rye (Rose Levy Berenbaum's recipe), 100% Whole Wheat (Peter
Reinhart's recipe), and Challah (Jeffry Hamelman's recipe).
I worked in two commercial bakeries for about two and a half years.
One was a grocery store bakery that did the bake off breads. The
other was a small Mexican bakery that made breads and pastries from
scratch. We did Mexican, European, and American style breads.
I am now in the process of cleaning up an old bakery building to
start our own bakery here in Abilene, TX.
