In my experience, the triple basket is easier to pull good shots from than the standard double basket as it seems to suffer less from channeling. Something which is especially noticeable with the bottomless PF :-) Making you own bottomless PF is dead easy, they are made from brass and as such as very easy to cut. Easiest way to do it is with a drill press and a circle saw of the right size. Unscrew the pour at the bottom of the PF, clamp the PF in the vice (gently) and drill one big hole in the bottom, as long as you take it easy and use a bit of oil it cuts through the brass like butter, I have made about 20 bottomless PF's for friends using this technique and the wood hole saw is still working fine, is also easier to drill from the bottom as you can use the existing hole that the pour thing screws onto to line up the hole saw dead centre.
