Hoping for some insight before I call WLL. I have experienced this problem
since I've owned my machine: I run water out for an Americano, or tea, etc. and
every now an again the machine will read E1. Usually I turn it off OR run
water through the group and things return to normal. The other day I pulled
some water and the same thing happened. This time the problem has not
resolved. I am left with a pump that runs constantly (never shuts off). I've
replaced the pump (since I had a new one sitting in a box). I've disassembled
large top nut on the group, the OPV, etc. All of those areas checked out fine.
The pump runs water out of the group head if I open the lever while the pump
is running, though the flow rate does not seem normal. Water runs out of the
flexible line connecting the boilers (when I disconnected it to check this).
The red light indicating a request for heat does not turn on. I'm no expert,
but I have learned to service the machine in the past. My thought is that
there is an electronic issue with the controller, or a sensor is not
functioning. The switch under the water tank works fine. I actually had some
luck last night with what I thought was a fix. I took off the cover,
disconnected the flexible hose just past the OPV to see if water was running.
Everything was fine. I did reset the High Limit button. When I reconnected it
and then turned the machine on again, it heated up normally and ran fine. I
was able to clean the machine with the blind PF and Cafiza. So it ran fine for
that sequence. Then this morning, I turned it on and the pump began to run
constantly. I've had the machine apart several times since I've owned it, and
that is more than a little disappointing. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Michael
