I've had my refurbed Brewtus II for more than a year, but this is my first post. (I've actively lurked, but this is the first time I've needed help...)
Over the past month, my brew pressure during shots has gradually and sporadically failed, which is to say, gone from 8.5-9 bars down to 3-4 bars. Quality of espresso has gone down accordingly from thick with rich crema to watery coffee. When this pressure problem first happened, I could flip the pump actuator lever off and immediately back on, and pressure would ramp back up to normal. Now it stays at 3-4 bars no matter what I do. My hunch is that this isn't a pump failure, since the sound the pump makes hasn't changed at all, and backflushing with a blind basket still produces a steady 10.5 bars of pressure, just as it always did. So, Brewtus experts, what's gone wrong? OPV valve? Seals? And can I repair this myself, or is it safer to drive my Brewtus 50 miles from where I live on the Oregon coast over the coastal mountains to Stefano's Espresso Care? --Bill -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
