The Brewtus in any configuration is a great machine. I've had mine
since 2006. Since the purchase of my machine, I've always wanted my
machine plumbed in and driven by a rotary pump. After the hassle of
having to replace the original brew controller last year, I've been
planning the upgrade to a PID controller.

So last winter, I replaced the vib motor with the rotary motor kit
from WWL, and plumbed in the machine to my water supply. This past
weekend I replaced the original AKO brew controller with the GICAR PID
controller. In both cases, the installations took about an hour and
were pretty straightforward.

>From a drink quality standpoint, I really can't tell a difference,
but, I really do enjoy the quite rotary motor. No more rattling drip
tray, no more running out of water. And I'm hoping that by replacing
the brew controller, I've eliminated E1 failures due to a shorted
temperature sensor.

Point of the post is that regardless of the configuration you own, you
do have options to upgrade or update. Remember, Brewtus's never die
they just brew away.
