Hello Everybody, So my Brewtus has a problem. Three problems to be precise. One I think I know how to fix, the other two may be related. I got it used in great shape a couple of years ago and do regular cleaning, descaling (although I went too long the first time, no problems just did not realize it needed it as frequently), do a water backflush after every shot and detergent backflush regiment every week. I also use Brita filtered water (no in-plumbing yet). Other than that, any maintenance it needs I am unaware of so that may be part of the problem.
So here are my problems. Brew Pressure Gauge (Manometer): When brewing shots or backflushing, the top gauge (the steam pressure gauge) works fine. It actually moves. The bottom gauge (the brew pressure gauge) is frozen on ~2.5 bar. It will sometimes BARELY move, however generally it just sits there. I'm not sure how to figure out if it is a problem with the gauge, the brew pressure, or more importantly, how to fix it. Group Head Leaking Into Drip Tray: I hope I've got the terminology right. Anyway . . . Every time I brew a shot or backflush, water drips from the part of the group head that drips water into the drip tray. So as I'm pulling a shot, or while the pressure is building up for the backflush, it's leaking water the whole time. This seems like it is not sealing as if a washer or something is leaking from what I can tell. However, I am not sure how to figure this out. Hissing: This is the vacuum breaker valve. I replaced the old one, and the new one worked great. For a while. Now it's doing the same thing where it will just stay open for LONG periods of time. I'm wondering if the frequency and long duration of the pressure breaking through is due to my first issue, or if there is something I'm doing wrong causing the valve to gum up. I also made what seems to be a mistake of soaking it in Cafiza to clear away any deposits as now it just constantly gurgles. I can buy a new one, just not sure how to prevent recurrences. Any idea what the causes are to these a/o what I need to buy or do to fix them? -Cheers -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
