A new cartridge is $20 plus shipping from WLL.  Swapping is "Pull ...Push"  You 
could negotiate with Todd for a case price.

I seem to recall calculating or reading that the cartridge as a chemistry 
problem would only fully treat about four reservoirs before it was not doing 
anything material to 7.5 water.  

A sad conundrum is that the best espresso requires slightly hard water and that 
means that sooner or later, you need to descale.  Keeping the TDS between 50 
and 70 puts that off for about 5 years as a routine maintenance item.  There is 
a fellow on Oahu who does it every 6 months and has it down to a minimum pain 
process, but it isn't a terrific way to spend a Saturday.
